What does DiskLens do?
DiskLens scans a folder — or your whole disk — and shows you what is using the space. You can explore the result as a dashboard, a treemap, a sunburst chart, a sortable table, a search, or a list of duplicate files.
Which macOS versions are supported?
DiskLens requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later. It is a universal app and runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
How do I scan my whole disk?
Choose your startup volume when you pick a folder to analyze. The first time, macOS asks you to grant access — that's the sandbox doing its job. DiskLens then remembers your choice so future scans are one click away.
Why didn't my network drive or external disk get scanned?
By default DiskLens stays on the volume you selected and skips mounted network shares and external drives, so a mapped share can't quietly inflate your totals. Use the mounted-volumes toggle in the toolbar to include them on the next scan.
Does DiskLens delete my files?
No. DiskLens only shows you what is taking space and can reveal items in Finder, but it never deletes or moves anything on its own. You stay in control.
How does duplicate detection work?
DiskLens compares files by their actual content rather than their names, so it finds genuine duplicates even when the names differ. You decide which copies to keep.
How do I export a report?
Open the Details view and export the whole table to CSV or to a shareable HTML file. The Sunburst view can also export its chart as a PNG image.
Is my data private?
Completely. DiskLens runs in the App Sandbox with no network access, reads only the folders you explicitly grant, collects no data, and contains no ads or trackers. See the privacy page for details.
